Educators' Advantage

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act has established improved student achievement as the top priority for technologically integration in schools, with the goal of enabling students to become technology literate by the end of the eighth grade. Schools and districts have more technology resources and infrastructure in place than ever before. Yet research consistently reveals that too many educators lack the knowledge or support required to integrate technology in ways that contribute to student achievement. Furthering the commitment to student achievement and technology literacy, NCLB also calls for integrating technology into teacher professional development and curriculum development with research-based best practices. Schools need research-based guidelines and resources to help them plan, implement, and evaluate their technology investments in ways that help maximize the use of technology that is already present and offer the greatest impact with respect to the return on investment and to student achievement.
